A Baby Bear Quilt!

My friend and painter at the studio Mary Beth has just completed another quilting masterpiece! She has made a few of these bear quilts through the years for new babies in her family - the quilts are always so cute and I know they are cherished keepsakes!

This one is extra special because it is for her first granddaughter Keenan who will be here in August! She took the quilt to her son Dave and his wife Sarah last weekend - it matched their nursery perfectly!

Also, a fun little tid-bit about our families... Mary Beth and I were pregnant together with our sons as they were born in the same month. Now, Mac and Dave are both expecting their first children in the same month - and both are having girls! We are all so excited!!

Grandmother Winget's Quilt

As I may have mentioned before I love quilts and everything about them. I love the fabrics and the patterns. I am amazed by the care that goes into every single stitch and I love them as precious works of art and family heirlooms. I even have the great privilege of designing quilting fabrics!

The quilt featured on this post is one of those treasured family heirlooms - it was pieced together by my mother-in-law and her sister-in law. It was passed down to my cousin Martha Ann who recently gave it to my daughter Erin at her wedding. Even the fabric holds precious memories as it was cut from Momma Fan's old dresses (my husband's grandmother).

I love the cute vintage fabrics!

Erin said this is now her go-to quilt for hanging out around the house. Maybe it reminds her of the love and prayers for her and her husband Jacob that are being sent daily from NC!

And of course our dog Olive had to be the center of attention!

Mother's Day Quilt

As many of you know, my daughter Erin moved to Michigan this year to work for The World Race. She and her friends found a woman to take sewing lessons from and she completed her first quilt not long ago. She did an amazing job and it is beautiful!
Last weekend, Erin came home to North Carolina and gave her first quilt to me as a Mother's Day gift! I will cherish it always as a precious gift of the heart.
